As you are well aware OH&S is for ever changing and we all need to keep up. We, as Franchise Business owners, are all 100% responsible for ourselves and our workers. Any “subbie” whether they be a delivery truck driver, your post hole digger man, or anyone else who steps on your site, invited or not, is your responsibility. You are the principle contractor for your job site and totally responsible for everything that happens on that site. It is a requirement to have your Level 2 First Aid certificate….. and CONGRATULATIONS….. to all of the 32 Franchisees from Jims Fencing – Regional Victoria & Western Melbourne on the attainment of their Certificate Two (2) in First Aid. This is a great result for us as a Region and Darren & I are very proud to be leading the way within the Jims Group in helping our Franchisees take responsibility for their OH&S requirements. The course covered the skills and knowledge required to provide a basic first aid response, emergency life support and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance either in the work place or the community. It included the First aid management of:
  • abdominal injuries
  • allergic reactions
  • altered and loss of consciousness
  • apply an AED
  • bleeding
  • burns – thermal, chemical, friction, electrical
  • cardiac arrest / CPR / chest pain / chain of survival
  • choking/airway obstruction
  • duty of care and other legal requirements
  • injuries: cold and crush injuries; eye and ear injuries; head, neck and spinal injuries; minor skin injuries; needle stick injuries; soft tissue injuries including sprains, strains, dislocations

Thank-you to the 32 Franchisee for realising the importance of this training day and taking a day “off tools” and spending it on a very important part of their business.   Catherine & Darren
